The Queen’s Birthday Picnic

The Queen’s Birthday Picnic

June 20, 2016

Despite threatening clouds swirling past Adstockistan on Sunday 12 May, the Queen’s birthday picnic went ahead with great enthusiasm from all who came.  Awnings and tents were donated from the village and these kept everyone dry on the surprisingly few occasions it actually rained, and despite it being a school night, the bar (the farm’s RTV) went back to the yard considerably lighter than it was in the morning!

Lucy Bignall and her wonderful Adstock Singers sang some beautiful summer songs to ward off any impending showers and even managed to drum up some audience participation, of somewhat dubious quality, with a rendition of “English Country Garden” – no one was too sure whether the distant rumbling was thunder or Terry Wogan rolling in his grave!

Thank you to all who came, not only was the Queen toasted, but the head of Adstock’s newest addition was also thoroughly wetted- 3 week old Poppy!
