Adstockistan celebrated it’s third Wassail almost without a hitch. The weather was reasonable, dusk happened at the right time, none of the disciple flares were blown out apart from Judas who stayed extinguished as he should have. Unfortunately after 3 years, Vicar Ros (or High Priestess of the Orchard Ros on this occasion) still cannot pronounce Badakhshan favouring the Anglo-Saxon version Badanshire?!
This year’s ceremony was seriously enhanced by the addition of the Adstock Singers leading all the songs and Lucy on the violin with sister Camilla on the flute, vastly improving the last two efforts with the barely audible recorded versions in the wrong key.
Thank you so much to Ros who performs with so much enthusiasm every year, Lucy and her singers for their beautiful voices and playing and of course the loyal Owlswick Morris Dancers who once again gave their fee to Afghanaid. In total £234.70 was raised for their wonderful and inspiring projects in Afghanistan – or as Ros would say Afghanshire!
